Havaton
Background of the Havanese:
We have searched the last few years for a toy breed that was a good family pet, little to no shedding as well as maintaining good health and we are excited to have found the Havanese to fit the order. The Havanese is an old breed of the Bichon family as their ancestors date back to 23 to 79 B.C. in the Mediterranean region possibly originating on the island of Malta. Also known as Havana Silk Dog, the Havanese descended from the dogs that found a permanent home in Cuba, where many wealthy Cubans owned them. Many of these dogs ended up in the US in 1959 after the Cuban revolution. The Havanese is a small, short-legged breed that is 8" to 11" tall at the shoulders and 7 to 13 lbs. as an adult. Their coat is a soft double-coat that's wavy to curly and can reach 6 to 8" in length and it is considered non shed and hypoallergenic. They range in many colors. These dogs become much attached to their human family; they're excellent with children for being so small in size. They're very affectionate and playful and get along with other pets. They're intelligent, easily trained and they're not a barky type of dog. The Havanese is a cheerful and friendly breed that's gentle and has a very lively and springy gait.
Background of the Coton de Tulear:
There's very little info actually known about the Coton de Tulear. They're related to the French Bichons and Italian Bolognese-they're favored companions of wealthy people of Tulear in Madagascar-SE of Africa dating back to the 15th century-brought to the US in '71. They're 9 to 12 lbs. and 8.5-12" at the shoulders. They have cotton candy fluffy long hair that's never coarse or oily. They're cuddly, gentle, affectionate, and alert. They're a great family dog, good watchdog, and charming little bundles of joy that are not barky. They form a great bond with their master. They're a non-allergenic and non-shed dog that is long-lived-14 to 16 yrs.
We felt that the two breeds are a great combination i.e. the HAVATONS
All of our parent dogs are up-to-date on their vaccinations and they're given an annual health exam by our veterinarian.
We recommend feeding a high-quality dog food to keep your dog healthy and the coat looking good. After the puppies have had their first vaccination, ensuring they will grow strong and develop a healthy immune system, people are welcome to visit them. When our Havanese are ready to go, they will have been veterinarian checked, up-to-date on their shots, dewormed, dewclaws removed and we give a written health guarantee for 2 years for any hereditary or congenital disease.
